UWC Taiwan follows a thorough and well-rounded selection process to identify motivated and talented young individuals who align with UWC’s values and mission.

1. Application stage
The first step in the selection process is submitting an application. This includes:
- Completing an online application form with personal details, academic background, extracurricular activities, and motivations for applying to UWC.
- Submitting essays or short responses to demonstrate critical thinking and commitment to UWC values.
- Providing references from teachers, mentors, or community leaders.
- Uploading academic transcripts and other required documents.
- Signed permission from the parent or legal guardian.
2. Selection stage
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to participate in a multi-step selection process, which typically includes:
- Tests and Written Assessments: These may assess logical reasoning, problem-solving skills, and English proficiency.
- Group Activities: Candidates engage in collaborative problem-solving tasks and discussions to assess teamwork, leadership, and adaptability.
- Individual Interviews: A panel interview where applicants discuss their motivations, aspirations, and alignment with UWC’s values.
3. Nomination stage
After selections, the National Committee nominates the most promising candidates for placement at UWC schools and colleges. Successful applicants will:
- Receive an offer for a UWC placement, which may be fully or partially funded depending on demonstrated need (all applicants will be requested to submit financial information to this effect).
- Have the opportunity to accept or decline the nomination.
- Complete necessary paperwork and preparations for enrollment.
4. Important dates
- Application Open: Aug 1
- Application Deadline: Oct 13
- Selection Activities:
- Mid-November 2025 – First round of the selection process, written tests in English and Chinese
- Mid-December 2025 – Second round of the selection process, face-to-face interviews
- Mid-January 2026 – Third round of the selection process, face-to-face interviews
- Final Decisions Announced:
- March 2026 – Selected students receive notifications from UWC Taiwan
- May 2026 – Selected students receive confirmation of enrollment from various UWCs

Application fee:
Written test (NT$1,000), interview (NT$1,500), free for students from low- and middle-income families, no fee for submitting the application.
UWC Taiwan Council does not require students to provide IELTS or TOEFL test scores.
Before filling out the application form, please:
(1) Go to https://apply.uwc.org/ to register an account. Click the green “Register” button in the upper right corner of the page. Fill in your name, email address, and create a password.
(2) After filling in the form, please click “Create Account”. You will receive an email (if not, please check your spam folder). Click the green “Confirm email address” button in the email to verify your email address. Then click “Continue” and you will return to the main screen.
(3) On the main screen, click the green “View programs” button. On the next page, click “Fill out eligibility profile”. Fill in your date of birth, nationality, and country of residence. If you are a Taiwanese citizen, please fill in Taiwan in the Nationality column. Then select “UWC National Committee”. Regarding the UWC short course questions, you can check the boxes according to your personal wishes. It will not affect the selection of the UWC Taiwan Council. Finally, after confirming that you have read and understood the UWC Data Protection and Privacy Terms, click “Save my profile”.
Note: If you live abroad and cannot attend the interview in Taiwan, you can choose “UWC Global Selection Programme” in the first question. However, please note that you need to pay the full tuition fee to apply through this channel, and applicants come from high schools all over the world, not just Taiwanese.
(4) Now, return to the Programs page. If you meet the application requirements, you will see the UWC Taiwan application form. Please click “MORE” and then “APPLY” to enter the application form.
